How we rate channels
The profile is the product. These are the rules every channel is held to, whatever its politics.
Verified
We confirmed who runs the channel and where they are based, from public records, a masthead, or direct contact.
Unverified
The channel is Canadian-focused, but we could not yet confirm its operators or location. Listed with a caution.
Flagged
Credible reporting shows the channel misrepresents who runs it or where it operates. We keep it listed so viewers can see the warning.
Lean
Five steps from left to right, based on story selection and stated positions. We list outside ratings, such as Media Bias/Fact Check, where they exist.
Format
Reporting means original interviews or documents. Commentary means opinion on others' reporting. Many channels do both.
Corrections
Channels can submit corrections to their own profile through the submission form. Every profile shows when it was last reviewed.
